GSB was invited to provide conceptual design services for this entertaining and playful family aquatic facility.  While many community aquatic complexes provide all the requisite play and competition pools as well as the code mandated support facilities, this client wanted to go beyond the standard expectations and provide a facility that stimulates the visitors imagination.  They wanted to create an environment where the visitors enjoy coming back time and time again.  Martin County desired that the design have a nautical theme to respond to it's "Treasure Coast" location on the Florida Atlantic Coast.  The facility includes a 50 meter competition pool with diving well, a 25 yard exercise and learn-to-swim pool, bleacher seating to accommodate 600 spectators, a beach entry activity pool with water play structure, and a 750 linear foot lazy river.  The public/employee buildings totaling 12,000 sf include ticket offices, food and beverage concessions with indoor and outdoor dining, two event rooms, men's and women's changing /restroom facilities, and two multipurpose classrooms.  The facility will be designed and constructed to achieve LEED certification.
