This 83,675 square foot expansion & renovation was undertaken after the university’s music building was heavily damaged by fire. The project involved renovating three clustered buildings and connecting them with new construction. This $4,290,000 facility included improvements to the main campus auditorium, music rooms, classrooms and administrative offices, as well as a new recital hall, art gallery, lobby and a dramatic vaulted conservatory which encloses the former courtyard between the existing buildings. When the work was finished in 1999, the Garvey Center was born, and new life had been breathed into the university’s performing arts programs.
